Overview

This knowledge base article explains how to allow external USB devices in Knox Manage Kiosk mode.

If you connect an external USB device to a mobile device in kiosk mode, Android System requests permission to connect. Since the prompt is generated by the System UI application, it’s blocked in kiosk mode, which only allows whitelisted apps to run.

Kiosk mode allows control apps to be run in the background without a shortcut.

How do I allow external USB devices in kiosk mode?

  1. On the Knox Manage console, click Profile.

  2. Click Manage Control App. The Manage Control App dialog opens.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter the following information:

    Field Value
    Platform Android
    Package Name com.android.systemui
    Application Name System UI
  5. Click Save.

  6. Add a new kiosk or modify an existing kiosk. If creating a new kiosk, select Multiple App Kiosk or Single App Kiosk and click Next.

  7. For Allowlisted App Settings, click Select.

  8. Select System UI, then click OK.

  9. Click Save.
