Overview

When adding a new license key to the Knox Manage original console, you may encounter the following error message:

LMS Operation does not success. [Tenant id is not allowed to register this key:License Key]

Cause

This issue occurs if the license key that you’re trying to add is already assigned to a different Knox Manage tenant. Knox license keys can only be used in the specific tenant they’re assigned to. They can’t be shared across different tenants, unless you’re a Managed Service Provider (MSP) using a transferable license between multiple fully managed customers.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, make sure you’ve assigned the correct license key to the customer’s tenant:

  1. Ask the reseller or MSP to verify which customer and tenant the license key is currently assigned to.
    • If the key is assigned to a different customer, ask the reseller or MSP to correct the assignment. Depending on the steps required, you may have to issue or purchase a new license key for the affected customer.
  2. Add the correctly assigned key to the customer’s Knox Manage tenant.

If the license key is expired, you’ll need to use a newly issued key to update the license. Expired license keys can’t be reused in another tenant. See Replace an expired license for more information.
