Manage organizations

Once you create an organization, you can view, edit, delete, and perform actions on it.

View organizations

Once you create an organization, you can view it from the Organizations page. Search for a particular organization by its name.

In the organization table, you can view information on the organizations in your tenant.

Column Description
ORGANIZATION NAME The organization's name. Click it to open the organization's details. Click on the root organization to see all associated sub-organizations. For each sub-organization that is a parent organization, click (View details icon) beside it to open all of its sub-organizations.
SOURCE The source of the organization. Filter by Knox Manage or Directory.
USERS The number of users in the organization. Click the number to see a list of all associated users. On the page that opens, you can manage the associated users from the ACTIONS drop down.
DEVICES The number of devices in the organization. Click the number to see a list of all associated devices. On the page that opens, you can manage and perform device actions on associated devices from the ACTIONS drop-down. See Device actions to learn more.
ASSIGNED PROFILES The number of profiles assigned to the organization. Click the number to see a list of all associated profiles. On the page that opens, you can manage the associated profiles from the ACTIONS drop-down.
ASSIGNED APPS The number of apps assigned to the organization. Click the number to see a list of all associated apps. On the page that opens, you can manage the associated apps from the ACTIONS drop-down.
ASSIGNED CONTENT The number of content files assigned to the organization. Click the number to see a list of all associated content files. On the page that opens, you can manage associated content from the ACTIONS drop-down.
DEVICE PLATFORM The platform, such as Android, of the devices in the organization.
LAST UPDATED The date and time when the organization was last updated.

View an organization’s details

You can view more information about an organization in its details. To view an organization’s details:

  1. Go to the Organizations page and click an organization’s name. The details panel opens.
  2. The details panel is split into the following sections:
    • SUMMARY — Provides a broad overview of the organization.
    • DEVICE PLATFORM AND MANAGEMENT TYPE — States the platform of devices that the organization manages. This section only displays if devices are assigned to the organization.
    • SYNC OVERVIEW — Provides an overview of the sync information between the organization and the identity provider. This section only displays for organizations that are synced from an identity provider.
    • ASSIGNED TO ORGANIZATION — Displays the number of profiles, apps, and content files assigned to the organization. Click on any of the numbers to learn more.

From the bottom of the panel, you can also EDIT ORGANIZATION or click (More actions icon) to Enable sync with its identity provider, or Delete organization.

Edit an organization

To edit an organization:

  1. Go to the Organizations page and perform either of the following actions:
    • Select an organization, then click ACTIONS > Edit organization.
    • Click the name of an organization. On the details panel that opens, click EDIT ORGANIZATION.
  2. Edit the applicable fields, then click NEXT.
  3. On the page that opens, select one or more users to add to the organization. Then click SAVE.

The organization is updated.

Delete an organization

When you delete an organization, you remove any profiles and apps assigned to devices within it.

Content assigned to an organization may remain on associated devices even when the organization is deleted. To delete content from a device once it’s unassigned, enable Delete content from device when unassigned in the General settings.

To delete an organization:

  1. Go to the Organizations page and either:
    • Select an organization, then click ACTIONS > Delete organization.
    • Click the name of an organization. On the details panel that opens, click (More actions icon)> Delete organization.
  2. On the Delete organization dialog that opens, click DELETE.

The organization is deleted.

If the deleted organization was a parent organization, an error appears beside any of its remaining sub-organizations. Assign these sub-organizations a new parent organization to maintain the organization hierarchy.

Perform actions on organizations

You can further manage organizations by performing actions on them. To perform an action on an organization, go to the Organizations page and select an organization. Then click ACTIONS and select an action from the drop-down:

Action Description
Assign profile Assigns selected profiles to the organization.
Unassign profile Unassigns selected profiles from the organization. This option doesn't work on inherited profiles. However, you can replace an inheritable profile by assigning a new one.
Push profile Pushes all assigned profiles to the organization and its sub-organizations.
Assign app Assigns the selected app.
Unassign app Unassigns a selected app.
Edit app settings Edits settings for a particular app.
Assign content Assigns and pushes selected content.
Unassign content Unassigns selected content.
Edit organization Edits the organization.
Add sub-organization Adds a sub-organization to the selected organization. See Create an organization to learn more.
Sync directory organization Syncs the organization to its directory service.
Delete organization Deletes the organization and removes any assigned profiles and apps from its devices.
