Kiosk types and minimum requirements
Last updated April 29th, 2026
Kiosks are specialized, often fixed devices installed by businesses on-site to serve as public terminals, displays, or signage. Knox Manage new console can deploy, monitor, and manage these kiosks in your device fleet.
When deploying a kiosk on supported platforms, the device enters kiosk mode, which is a collection of operating system features and behaviors that provide a kiosk experience to the user. While the specific features available vary depending on the platform, the basic idea of kiosk mode is to take the base operating system on the device, limit its non-essential functionality, and provision it in a certain way so that the user experience is constrained to the kiosk’s intended use-case.
The new console supports three types of kiosk modes:
-
Single-app kiosk — Runs a single app only.
-
Multi-app kiosk — Runs multiple apps.
-
Web mode kiosk — A web browser for running only specific URLs for a specific purpose.
Minimum requirements
Kiosk mode is supported on devices running Android Enterprise. Consult the following table for complete details regarding device compatibility.

Any kiosk that you create in the new console can be edited and pushed to devices, or deleted on the original console’s Kiosk page. However, kiosks created in the original console can’t be edited, pushed, or deleted in the new console.
