Create a profile

Last updated April 24th, 2024

This section helps you create a new accessory profile. Once you create a new profile, you can then customize it to apply custom settings to push to your devices.

Restrictions for MSPs

If an MSP manages your tenant on your behalf, you can’t create accessory profiles and the Accessory tab becomes inaccessible.

About Accessory IDs

An accessory ID is a unique ID registered to each accessory by the accessory manufacturer.

When you create an accessory profile, you can add up to 10 accessory groups in a profile, wherein each group can contain up to 10,000 accessories. Each accessory can then enroll up to 10 devices.

You can delete an accessory ID if the profile is saved as a draft. Once the profile is saved, you can reassign the license but you can’t delete it. See About the Accessory license for more information on license assignments and restrictions.

Additionally, if an accessory ID is actively associated with a profile, you must first delete the profile prior to deleting the accessory ID.

  1. On the console, go to Knox Configure.

  2. Click Profiles.

  6. For Accessory for enrollment, add accessories that enable you to push a rebranding profile to a device and enroll it using the Knox Deployment App.

    1. Click Add accessory to generate up to 10 accessory groups in a profile, wherein each group can contain up to 10,000 accessories. Each accessory can then enroll up to 10 devices.

    2. On the Generate accessory ID dialog:

      1. Select an Accessory type from either Cover and NFC card / Buds case.

  2. Click Actions > Clone to edit > Confirm.

  3. Rename the clone to avoid a naming conflict with the source profile.

  4. (Optional) Override the clone’s settings, as needed.
