Set default application for installation

This functionality is only available upon request. Please contact your Knox Guard administrator to enable this feature.

A custom app can be installed on devices for various company functions. The app can be updated using Google Play. If the target device already has the app, then the system checks the app version and installs or keeps the latest one. This functionality is not available in ‘Bulk Actions’ mode.

App uninstallation prevention is applied for the installed app by default. When installing a new app, the old one remains on the device but the uninstallation prevention is shifted to the new app. Thus the user can manually uninstall the old app.

To set app installation settings:

  1. Select Policies from the left-hand navigation menu.

  2. Select APPLICATION INSTALLATION from the ADVANCED CONTROLS field.

  3. Upload app which is in APK format and lower than 150 MB. Optionally, check the box to launch the app after first installation.

  4. Click SAVE to commit the default app installation settings.

    If you want to install multiple apps (up to five), you can do so by obtaining a Knox Guard Advanced license. Contact the sales team for more information.
