Overview

On a Knox Configure (KC)-managed device with the Extend battery life by limiting the maximum charge when connected to a power source policy enabled, you may notice that the device still charges to 100% despite the policy setting the maximum charge level to 85%.

Cause

Extend battery life by limiting the maximum charge when connected to a power source protects your battery by preventing the LDU terminal from swelling when constantly plugged in to a power source. With this policy, the charging voltage level is lowered from 4.4V to 4.2V.

As the terminal recognizes that the device is fully charged, even though the voltage level was lowered, the battery percentage still shows as 100% when it reaches the 85% charge limit.

How can I check if the Extend battery life policy is successfully applied on a device?

After applying a KC profile with Extend battery life by limiting the maximum charge when connected to a power source enabled, you can check the Protect battery setting on your device.

To do so, go to Settings > Device care > Battery > Charging > Protect battery.
