New
Ability to include a hyperlink when pushing an update notification
When sending a custom notification after pushing a profile update, you now have the option to include a hyperlink that directs your device users to a webpage for more information. After adding a hyperlink in the custom notification, your device users will see a Learn more link on their device when the notification appears.
Additional options for sending profile update notifications
Previously, you could only send a custom notification to device users when you pushed a profile update. In this release, you’ll also have the option to send a custom notification when you change a device’s assigned profile.
Additionally, if you push a profile update or assign a different profile from the Devices page > BULK ACTIONS tab, you’ll now have the option to include a custom notification.
Prevent the upload of malicious APK files
A new malware check feature detects and prevents infected APK files from uploading to the Knox Configure server, thereby avoiding the installation of malicious apps on customers’ devices. When you upload an APK file to Knox Configure—either to the Library or in a Profile—it is checked for malware, and if detected, the upload is blocked and you’ll receive a notification in the console and in the activity logs.
Disable cover screen mirroring for Z Fold devices
You can now disable the Cover screen mirroring feature when creating profiles for Z Fold devices. When enabled, this feature copies all shortcuts from the cover screen to the main screen. By disabling it, your device users can customize their cover and main screens separately, thus allowing them to set up their screen layouts according to their own needs and requirements.
Set installation order of apps during and after configuration
You can now specify the installation order of custom apps in a profile, ensuring required apps are installed first. Additionally, apps with policy restrictions and custom configurations can be installed before internal apps.
Updates
Support for Android 17 when adding themes
Previously, Knox Configure only allowed you to add custom themes for devices up to Android 16. In this release, you can now add themes for devices running Android 17. You can find this new OS option in the profile creation wizard’s Theme & wallpaper settings.
Ability to hide default Android widgets on lock screen
For devices running Android 16 or later, you can now hide the default Android widgets on the device’s lock screen when configuring a profile. You can find this new configuration option in the profile creation wizard’s Home & Lock screen settings.
Ability to configure data roaming settings in ProKiosk mode profiles
Previously, you could only configure data roaming settings in a Normal profile. In this release, you can now also configure data roaming settings when customizing ProKiosk mode profiles.
Deprecations
Updates to the FRP Bypass feature
To align with Google’s security policies, the FRP Bypass feature is discontinued for devices running Android 17 or higher. Devices running Android 16 or lower can still continue to use the feature if granted the proper permissions.
Additionally, the Skip Setup Wizard and FRP Bypass option in the profile creation wizard is renamed to Skip Setup Wizard and FRP Bypass (Android 16 and below) to provide better guidance when using this feature.
Removal of Wearable profiles
Due to the discontinuation of Tizen OS for wearable devices, the Profiles feature will no longer support the creation of new Wearable profiles in this release. If you have existing Wearable profiles, you can continue to use them with your devices, however these profiles can’t be modified or updated.
