Overview

Depending on the DeX features your deployment requires, certain USB classes can’t be disabled. For example, USB host storage must be enabled to use DeX mode. However, you can use DeX mode if other USB capabilities like MTP are disabled.

The following are a few common situations you might encounter, and their resolutions:

Use ONLY display port via DeX display port:

  • Enable USB host storage
  • Don’t disable any USB peripherals

Use ONLY USB keyboard and mouse via DeX USB port:

  • Enable USB host storage
  • Don’t disable Human interface device

Use ONLY Ethernet via DeX ethernet port:

  • Enable USB host storage
  • Don’t disable Vendor specific, CDC data, Communications

For more about USB restrictions, see USB device restrictions in the Knox Configure admin guide.
