Classroom user onboarding flow

Last updated September 11th, 2026

This page describes what happens after you invite a classroom user — that is, a student. A student may use more than one Classroom User account when enrolled in multiple classes. In addition to this, unlike general users:

  • Student users do not receive invitation emails. An administrator with the Super Admin role must create a Classroom User account for a class, then share the sign-in credentials with students who are in that class.
  • After onboarding, classroom users cannot access the Samsung Account for Education portal directly.
  • Two-step verification is not applicable to Classroom User accounts, because they do not require students’ email addresses.

To onboard your Classroom User students, you must first install the Knox Classroom app onto their devices. Then, your or your students must change their initial auto-generated password.

Install the Knox Classroom app

You must first install the app to your students’ devices so that they can use it to access their classes. See Supported specifications to learn more about what devices and operating systems are supported.

Android tablet

The Knox Classroom app should be installed from Google Play. Alternatively, you can download the APK file directly from Samsung, and then install it manually on each student’s tablet.

Windows device

The Knox Classroom app should be installed from the Microsoft Store. Alternatively, you can download the app directly from Samsung, and then install it manually on each student’s Windows device.

Change the initial auto-generated password

You, or your students, must change their initial auto-generated password before they can access the Knox Classroom app.

To do so, you or your students must:

  1. Open the Knox Classroom app on their tablet or computer, then click Sign In.

Alternatively, go to Samsung Account for Education, then click Sign in.

  2. On the Sign in to your business or education account page, enter their Account ID and initial auto-generated password that they received from their teacher or you.

  3. Enter a new password and confirm. The page refreshes to acknowledge the password change.
