About the Knox Tizen SDK

The Knox Tizen SDK provides the APIs and access control mechanisms that allow you to develop enterprise apps. When these apps are deployed on Samsung Tizen wearable devices, the enterprise can remotely manage the device control and security features.

You can use the Knox Tizen SDK to create enterprise apps that use Samsung Knox policies. Policies are rules applied to user interactions with the enterprise Samsung wearable device, and are implemented through enterprise device management APIs.

The Knox Tizen SDK for Wearables includes APIs from two categories of SDKs: Knox Tizen standard SDK (includes the MDM and Attestation APIs), and Knox Tizen Customization SDK (includes the Customization APIs):

  • Standard APIs — configure device hardware, network connectivity, user accounts, apps, and security policies. In an enterprise environment, you can use this SDK to fully control enterprise wearables to meet the strictest company policies.

  • Customization APIs — lets you to develop purpose-built devices for B2B market. The ProKiosk feature lets you to develop apps that restrict what users can do on their wearable. For example, you can determine which apps the user can view and run, and prevent or limit access to the underlying system, including blocking the ability to change settings.

  • Attestation APIs — verify that a wearable is running official firmware and has not been rooted.

To use the Samsung Knox Tizen, you need a license key. See Activate a license.

The following diagram illustrates the Samsung Knox Tizen for Wearables app development framework:

The apps that you design call the Knox Tizen APIs, which in turn communicate with the Tizen platform services.
