Modify profiles

Last updated October 21st, 2024

After you create a profile, you can make changes to it at any time. On this page, you’ll find instructions on how to edit, clone, and delete profiles.

Edit a profile

To edit a profile’s information, such as its EMM configurations, device settings, or QR code:

  1. On the Profiles page, click the profile’s name under the PROFILE NAME column.
  2. On the following page, click the setting you want to edit from the left navigation pane, then click Edit.
  3. When you’ve made the required changes, click SAVE.

Clone a profile

If you’ve already created a profile with your specific EMM configurations and device settings, you can clone it instead of creating a new one from scratch.

To clone a profile:

  1. On the Profiles page, select the checkbox beside the profile you’d like to clone. You can clone one profile at a time.
  2. Click ACTIONS > Clone to edit > CONFIRM.
  3. Rename the clone to avoid a naming conflict with the source profile, then click NEXT.
  4. If you need to make any changes to the cloned profile, go through the profile creation workflow, then click CREATE.

Profiles that are clones of Knox MSP Portal profiles are marked with a copy icon.

Clone and turn on advanced settings

Existing profiles with standard settings can be cloned and upgraded to include advanced settings, without any changes to the existing settings. The advanced settings are applied only if you have a valid Knox Suite license and have the permissions to manage profiles.

To clone a profile and turn on advanced settings:

  1. On the Profiles page, select the checkbox beside the profile you want to clone and upgrade.
  2. Click ACTIONS > Clone & upgrade to Advanced Profile > CONFIRM.
  3. Rename the cloned profile to avoid a naming conflict with the source profile, then click NEXT.
  4. If you need to make any changes to the cloned profile, go through the profile creation workflow, then click CREATE.

Delete profiles

If you no longer require or use a profile, you can permanently delete it from the console.

You can’t delete profiles that are assigned to devices. To resolve this, assign the devices a different profile than the one you wish to delete.

To delete a profile:

  1. On the Profiles page, select the checkbox beside the profile you want to delete.
  2. Click ACTIONS > Delete profile.
  3. Confirm the changes, then click Delete.
