Permission controls policy force closes apps

Overview

Some Knox Service Plugin users who have enabled Permission controls on their devices may notice an issue where apps granted the All files access permission stop running unexpectedly.

Cause

The Samsung Knox team has identified this issue is a result of how Knox Service Plugin automatically updates the Permission controls policy on devices.

If an applied policy configuration specifies an app that isn’t currently installed on the device, Knox Service Plugin will assess the policy state as FAILURE and automatically remove and re-apply the policy until the app is installed. During this process, apps granted the All files access permission through Permission controls had their privilege revoked and stopped running.

Resolution

The Samsung Knox team has resolved this issue in the Knox Service Plugin 25.02 release. Permissions are no longer revoked when the Permission controls policy is automatically updated.
