Unable to set screen timeout value

Overview

You may notice that the Screen timeout policy isn’t applied properly on a device.

Cause

The Screen timeout policy conflicts with the maximum screen timeout allowed policy set by your EMM. In situations where there is a conflict, the timeout value set by the EMM takes priority if it is the last configured policy. As a result, the Screen timeout policy isn’t applied on the device.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you must either remove or modify the maximum screen timeout policy set by your EMM.

The process for this procedure depends on your EMM. Please consult your EMM’s documentation for more information.

If you are using Knox Manage as your EMM:

  1. In the Knox Manage console, click Profile.

  2. Select your profile and click Modify Policy.

  3. Expand the Android Enterprise > Lock Screen policy drawer, and modify the following policies:

    Policy Value
Maximum Screen Timeout Allowed A value greater than your desired timeout value from the available options, or simply remove the timeout value by selecting “-”.
    Screen Timeout Allow
  4. Click Save & Assign to confirm your changes.
