Overview
On tablet devices with a hardware key running OneUI 6.1 (Android 14 OS) and higher, you may notice that the voice input button is missing from the Samsung Keyboard toolbar when the device is in lock task mode.
On the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro device, the voice input button may also be missing from the Samsung Keyboard when the device isn’t in lock task mode.
Cause
Starting with OneUI 6.1, the voice input button is moved to the Samsung Keyboard toolbar on tablet devices with a hardware key. However, the keyboard toolbar feature is disabled in lock task mode by default, making the voice input button inaccessible.
Workaround
To use voice input on a tablet device in lock task mode or while the voice input button is inaccessible, the device user can press and hold the device’s side key to trigger the feature while the keyboard is open. To ensure that the side key’s default setting triggers Bixby and doesn’t power off your device, you can apply the Knox Service Plugin side key policy.
You can also add a third-party keyboard, such as the Google Gboard, to your device to access the voice input feature from the keyboard.
