Overview

Introduced in Android 13 and One UI 5.0, Maintenance Mode is a service that protects and hides personal data on a device from being accessed during a repair. Maintenance Mode creates a separate user on the device that has no access to your personal data.

You might notice that Maintenance Mode is unavailable for devices that are fully managed or company-owned with a work profile.

Cause

Maintenance Mode requires support for multiple users. When a device is fully managed or company-owned with a work profile, the DISALLOW_ADD_USER constant is set to True, preventing users from creating new users. The DISALLOW_ADD_USER constant can’t be modified for company-owned devices.
