Overview

If you connect an external USB device to a mobile device in kiosk mode, Android System requests permission to connect. Since the prompt is generated by the System UI application, it’s blocked in kiosk mode, which only allows whitelisted apps to run.

Kiosk mode allows control apps to be run in the background without a shortcut.

How do I allow external USB devices in kiosk mode?

  1. On the Knox Manage console, click Profile.

  2. Click Manage System App. The Manage System App dialog opens.

  3. Click Add.

  4. Enter the following information:

    Field Value
    Platform Android
    Package Name com.android.systemui
    Application Name System UI
  5. Click Save.

Next, configure your Kiosk’s Allowlisted Apps Settings.

  1. In the Knox Manage console, click Kiosk.
  2. Select your kiosk and click Modify.
  3. Click Allowlisted Apps Settings > Select. The Select Application dialog opens.
  4. Search for com.android.systemui or System UI, then click OK.
  5. Click Save > OK to confirm your changes.
