Knox Manage unavailable in China

Overview

You may notice that Knox Manage is unavailable for the following cases:

  • Devices purchased in China running region-based firmware
  • Devices purchased and enrolled outside of China, then transferred to China

Cause

Android Enterprise requires Google Mobile Services, which is unavailable in China.

Additionally, the Knox Manage agent uses Firebase Cloud Messaging to communicate with the Knox Manage server. As Firebase Cloud Messaging is not supported in China, the Knox Manage server can’t push updates or device commands to the agent.

For devices that were purchased and enrolled outside of China, then transferred into China, the profile remains on the device, but the device is unable to receive updates or device commands from the Knox Manage console.
