Overview

When pushing a profile with the Audio Volume Controls policy configured, you may notice that the profile doesn’t change the values on the device.

Cause

If the value in the configuration remains unchanged from the previous profile assignment, the policy configuration doesn’t update.

Furthermore, the Audio Volume Controls policy doesn’t restrict device users from updating the values on the device.

Resolution

To overwrite the Audio Volume Controls policy on the device, you must update the policy with a new value before pushing the profile.

To restrict the device user from adjusting the volume such that only the values set by the Audio Volume Controls policy is applied, you can use the Volume Adjustment policy.

Setting the Volume Adjustment policy to Disallow mutes the audio.

To set the Volume Adjustment policy:

  1. In Knox Manage console, go to Profile.

  2. Modify an existing profile.

  3. Expand the Android Enterprise > Phone policy drawer, and modify the following policies:

    Policy Value
    Volume Adjustment Disallow
  4. Click Save & Assign to save your changes and assign the profile to your device group.

To disable the volume controls for a kiosk:

  1. In the Knox Manage console, go to Profile.

  2. Modify an existing profile.

  3. Expand the Samsung Knox > Kiosk policy drawer, and modify the following policies:

    Policy Value
Disallow Hardware Key(s) Select Volume Up and Volume Down.
  4. Click Save & Assign to save your changes and assign the profile to your device group.
