Knox Manage frequently asked questions for small and medium businesses

If you run a small or midsize business (SMB), these FAQs may address some of your common queries related to using Knox Manage. For anything else, please reach out to Knox Support.

To use Knox Manage, you must have a Samsung account, be registered for Knox Manage, and have a valid Knox Manage license. You’ll need a PC running Windows OS to access the Knox Manage console. Additionally, ensure that Knox Manage is compatible with your enterprise devices.

Go to SamsungKnox.com and click Sign In in the top-right corner of the page. You can sign in using your Samsung account credentials or an identity provider (IdP) service, such as Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, or Ping Identity.

Yes! Knox Manage now offers a new console that’s intuitive and easy to use, and provides essential features to help you manage your devices efficiently. As a new customer and a new tenant, you can use a self-guided workflow to get set up.

The original Knox Manage console is enabled by default, but you can easily switch to the new console any time. On the Knox Admin Portal, click your account icon, then click Settings. Under Knox Manage, click General settings, and select New console under Preferred Knox Manage console. For details, see Enable the new console.

The security and compliance rules and regulations vary across businesses, and applicable policies and configurations should be structured according to the risk tolerance of your business. However, some common device security measures include scheduling System updates, enabling Lock screen passwords, and blocking App installation from other sources. Yes, you can deploy and install apps on all enrolled devices, including ones already being used by your employees. You can also add and manage both internal, in-house apps and public apps that are available in Managed Google Play.

  • To add public apps using Managed Google Play, go to Application in the Knox Manage console and click Add. In the Select Application Type dialog, select Android and Public - Managed Google Play, then click Next. In the Google Play dialog, select an app type and enter the app details. You can now configure and approve the app for installation.
  • To add internal apps, go to Application, then click Add. In the Select Application Type dialog, select Internal - Knox Manage Portal and click Next. Configure the app, then Save and Assign the configuration.

You can add your new license key, which starts with KLM12, to the Licenses page on the Knox Admin Portal or in the Knox Manage console.

You can also view your Knox Manage license key on MyPage on samsung.com.

Depending on the number of available seats on your current license, you may need to purchase more licenses for any additional devices you want to manage. Contact a Samsung sales expert or find a local license reseller or MSP to purchase them. Any additional licenses you purchase are immediately added to your Knox Manage account.

If you want to continue using Knox Manage, contact Samsung or a local license reseller to extend your license.

To stop using Knox Manage, you can unenroll your devices.

To set a policy to prevent certain apps from running on devices, see Block Certain Apps from Running. In addition, you can restrict any app on your enterprise devices.

For fully managed devices, you can use the App Download Block/Allowslist policy to specify the restricted apps that must not be available to device users for download.
