Overview

This article guides you through how devices move from the Activating to Active state in Knox Guard. The activation process on the device is automatic if the following prerequisites are met in the Knox Guard console.

Prerequisites

  1. Your Samsung device is running an appropriate Knox version. For the most up-to-date list of devices that Knox Guard supports, see Devices secured by Knox.
  2. You have a valid Knox Guard license with available seats.
  3. Your device is in the Activating state in the Knox Guard before or within seven days of the device booting up and connecting to a network.

How devices activate in Knox Guard

The typical process of activating a device is as follows:

  1. The admin accepts the device into the Knox Guard console. The device’s status changes to Activating.
  2. When the device boots up and connects to a network, Knox Guard activation automatically begins.
  3. If activation is successful, the device’s status changes to Active in the Knox Guard console.

My device is stuck in the Activating state

Your device may be stuck in the Activating state if the prerequisites above aren’t met. In addition, ensure that the device is connected to a strong and stable network.

If you’ve missed the seven-day activation window, the device user must perform a manual action to activate Knox Guard on their device. There are two options available.

The device user can either:

  1. Factory reset the device.
  2. Navigate to Samsung Knox Guard on their device using a browser app, and tap Enroll this device on the web page that displays.

If all the requirements are met and the device is still not activating, submit a support ticket.
