Enable and disable SIM control

Last updated July 26th, 2023

You can control the SIM operation of any Knox Guard enrolled device that isn’t in the Rejected state. This includes locking the device, applying usability restrictions for voice, text and data usage, and applying international roaming restrictions.

To manage the tenant-wide policy, see SIM control policy.

When an approved SIM is removed from a device, a message displays indicating the device SIM can’t be detected, or is from an unsupported service provider and must be replaced with an approved SIM.

Enable SIM control

Devices with a dual SIM card configuration can use restricted features as long as one of the SIM cards is approved. You can manage this setting using the Minimum restriction field in the tenant-wide SIM control policy. If both SIM cards are blocked, devices can’t use restricted features.

To enable SIM control for select devices:

  1. On the Devices page, select one or more devices.

  2. Click ACTIONS > Manage policy > Enable SIM control. The Enable SIM control page displays.

  3. Select a policy to enable on the device. To modify a policy setting, use the tenant-wide SIM control policy.

You can filter the device list for this setting using the drop-down. Clicking this icon displays a pop-up showing all the SIM control policies applied to the device.

To disable SIM control for select devices:

  1. On the Devices page, select one or more devices.

  2. Click ACTIONS > Manage policy > Disable SIM control. The Disable SIM control pop-up displays.
