Unable to access Download mode and Recovery mode

Overview

Users might encounter the issue where they can’t access Download mode and Recovery mode on the device.

Cause

When the Knox E-FOTA client app is installed on the device, it makes a call to the allowOTAUpgrade and allowFirmwareRecovery restriction methods, and sets them to false to disallow firmware and over-the-air updates.

As a result, installing the Knox E-FOTA client app prevents Download mode and Recovery mode from being accessed on the device.

Workaround

To restore access to Download mode and Recovery mode, you must unenroll or remove the device from the Knox E-FOTA console.
