Overview
Knox E-FOTA’s integration with SOTI MobiControl enables you to provide enhanced support for your devices. Using Knox E-FOTA, you can efficiently control firmware updates on your devices and also manage common issues.
You can test your integration for the following real-world scenarios:
Case 1: Lock your firmware with Knox E-FOTA
To lock your firmware with a Knox E-FOTA policy:
-
In the SOTI MobiControl console, click the top left menu, then go to Policies.
-
Click Firmware Management > Samsung Knox E-FOTA.
-
Click + NEW SAMSUNG KNOX E-FOTA POLICY.
-
Fill in the required fields based on your enterprise requirements. Set the Start Date to a future date, after the current day.
-
Click SAVE AND ASSIGN.
-
Select the devices to apply this policy to.
If you disable Exclude devices assigned to other Knox E-FOTA Policy, the policy applies to all devices and overrides any existing policy assigned to them.
-
Click NEXT.
-
Click the device model name.
Duplicate device models may display, if they are provided by different carriers or regions.
-
Next to Target Firmware, select Lock Current Firmware.
-
Click OK > ASSIGN.
You can confirm that the policy is applied to a device by going to Settings > Software update on the device. The Software update screen will be greyed out.
Case 2: Update your devices with Knox E-FOTA
To update your devices with a Knox E-FOTA policy:
-
Follow steps 1–8 from Lock your firmware with Knox E-FOTA.
-
Next to Target Firmware, test the following:
Option | Description |

You can hover over the firmware information to view the full version name and release date.
-
Click OK > ASSIGN.
After the policy is applied to your test devices, verify that the device follows the configuration and updates to the expected version.

To test the Latest Any option on the same test devices:
- On the ASSIGN dialog, select Latest Any for Target Firmware.

After the new policy is applied to your test devices, verify that the device follows the configuration and updates to the latest version.
