New
Support for GS1 DataBar barcode symbologies
With Knox Capture 2.1, you can now configure the scan engine settings to recognize three new GS1 databar symbologies:
- GS1 DataBar 14
- DataBar Expanded
- DataBar Limited
See Configure scan engine settings to learn more about these newly supported barcode symbologies.
Ability to trigger a scan using an app’s UI button
Knox Capture 2.1 allows you to provide more flexibility for end users. You can now configure Knox Capture to launch the scanner by tapping a “soft-trigger” button from within the business app’s UI, instead of using the floating action button or relying on a separate hardware key. See Start scan from business app to learn more about this new feature.
This feature requires additional configuration and support from your business app developer. To enable this feature, your app developers must configure the app according to the guidelines outlined in the soft-trigger developer tutorial.
Support for GS1 Parsing
Knox Capture 2.1 now lets you parse scanned barcode data — based on the GS1 data format — before sending it to the target business app. This new option can be found in the Knox Capture Scanning settings screen. See Configure scan engine settings to learn more.
Animated tutorial for new users
To help admins and end users get familiar with the app’s UI, Knox Capture 2.1 now provides a simple and informative animated tutorial when the app is launched for the first time.
Updates
Barcode length information in admin guide
To help you decide the appropriate barcode symbology to use in your scanning profile, the supported barcode types table was updated to include each barcode’s total supported data length.
Knox Capture SDK v1.3.0
Knox Capture v2.1 also introduces a new version of the Knox Capture SDK for customers who wish to develop their own custom scanning applications. Knox Capture SDK v1.3 now includes the ability to trigger the mini scanner using a soft-trigger button in the business app’s UI, as well as support for GS1 parsing and GS1 DataBar (DataBar 14, DataBar Limited, DataBar Expanded) symbologies. To learn more, see our latest SDK release notes.
