Knox Authentication Manager v1.6 release notes
Last updated October 28th, 2024
New
Set a PIN-only authentication method
Previously, you could configure Knox Authentication Manager to allow either Manual or Face sign in methods. Manual method required users to enter their enterprise credentials, whereas Face method required users to perform the actions of entering a PIN number and scanning their face to sign in.
In this release, you now have the option to configure a PIN only sign in method. In addition to the new option, the Face login method was renamed to PIN+Face in the managed app policies, as this more accurately reflects the user’s experience for signing in.
Add profile name to your managed configuration
When creating Knox Authentication Manager profiles, you can now add an optional Profile name in the managed app policies. If added, users can view the profile name, along with the other policies set in the app’s managed configuration file. See Configure app policies for more details.
Force authentication on devices put to sleep via power button
Previously, when users locked a device by pressing the power button, depending on how the device was set up, it was possible that they (or other users) could unlock the device by simply pressing the power button once again. In this release, when a device is locked and then unlocked with the power button, all users are forced to sign back into Knox Authentication Manager.
Edit business app credentials
Previously, when users tapped Manage credentials in the app menu, they were only given the option to delete their non SSO-enabled business app credentials. In this release, users can now edit their app credentials, in addition to deleting them. See Manage business app credentials for more details.
Customize app sign-in screen title and description
You can now configure your managed app policies to customize the Title (up to 30 characters) and Description (up to 100 characters) text that appears on the app’s sign in screen. See Configure app policies for more details.
Updated
Updated managed app configuration policies
This release provides several changes to the app’s managed configuration policies, including minor text updates and renaming of some policies, addition and removal of some policy settings, and re-ordering of settings for ease of use. To learn more about the updated policies, see Configure app policies
Improved app enrollment user experience.
Previously, when users tapped the Back button on their device at any time during the enrollment process, the app would exit entirely. In this release, the Back button returns users to the previous screen.
Display app names when saving business app credentials
Previously, when users signed into their managed business apps on their device, they would see a popup asking if they wanted to save their username and password to Knox Authentication Manager. In this release, users will now see the name of the app in the popup. If the app launches a website in an external browser to complete the sign in, then users will see the URL of the website, in addition to the app name.
Exit the sign in screen with 6 taps
Previously, if users were on the sign-in screen, they would have to tap the Knox Authentication Manager logo twice, quickly followed by a long press, then they must enter the admin PIN in order to exit the sign in screen. Now, users simply have to tap the logo six times and enter the admin PIN to exit, eliminating the need for the long press.
