Knox Authentication Manager v1.5 release notes

Last updated May 29th, 2024

New

Lightweight launcher mode

In this release, you can now configure Knox Authentication Manager with a lightweight launcher that prevents users from bypassing authentication before accessing work apps and data on their device. This feature is particularly useful for Knox Manage and SOTI customers since these UEMs don’t have their own sign in screens.

Refer to the Get started as an IT admin tutorial (step 5) for details about this new configuration option.

Device-to-device sync when charging

Previously, device-to-device syncing only worked on charging stations without an Ethernet connection. In this release, device-to-device syncing works on all charging stations, regardless of whether they have an Ethernet connection or not.

Managed app policies for app clean up on sign in

You can now set your managed app configuration policies to clean up a previous user’s apps and accounts whenever a new user signs into Knox Authentication Manager.

This feature is primarily intended for Samsung Knox Manage and SOTI MobiControl customers. For VMware Workspace One and Microsoft Intune customers, clean up is normally handled by the UEM/EMM

Two new policies are added in this release:

  • Clean up on login — Allows the removal of app and account information when users sign in, to ensure that they don’t have access to the previous user’s signed-in apps and data.
  • Clean-up apps (package names) — Specifies the package names of apps you want to clean up after users sign in.

For details about these new configuration options, refer to the Get started as an IT admin tutorial (step 5).

Deprecations

Removed policy for Azure AD login auto-launch

Previously, you had to set the Azure AD login auto-launch policy to True if you wanted the Knox Authentication Manager sign-in screen to automatically display when users unlocked their device.

With this release, this policy is set to True by default. As no manual configuration is required, this policy is also removed from the managed app configuration settings in your UEM/EMM.
