This document is new for the Knox cloud services 25.01 UAT.
On this tab
The BATTERY tab provides several options to help you optimize your fleet’s battery performance.
Battery auto optimization during work shift (Labs)
This is currently a Labs feature, meaning that some options may change, or be added or removed in a future release.
The Battery auto optimization during work shift feature can help extend your fleet’s device battery life and reduce downtime associated with having to charge devices during a workshift.
Once this feature is enabled, Knox Asset Intelligence automatically reconfigures several of your device’s settings to help ensure maximum battery life.
To use battery optimization, you must first enable Work shift data collection in the DATA CONDITIONS tab. Once a workshift is configured, go to the BATTERY tab and do the following:
-
Enable BATTERY AUTO OPTIMIZATION DURING WORK SHIFT.
-
Select the target device groups for battery auto optimization. If no groups are selected, then all devices in the fleet are optimized.
-
Enable the Optimize device settings option. This automatically applies the following settings to your fleet:
- Motion smoothness set to Standard.
- Brightness set to Adaptive brightness.
- Screen timeout value set to 2 minutes if previous value was higher. Unchanged if previous value was lower than 2 minutes.
- Mobile hotspots set to Off.
- Always On Display (AOD) set to Off.
- Samsung keyboard sound set to Off.
-
(optional) Select Enable dark mode if you want to configure your fleet’s devices to use this feature.
Some users may have trouble using their devices in Dark mode. Consider your organization’s accessibility needs before enabling this option.
Battery optimization for unmanaged apps
If you’ve categorized apps in your fleet as managed and unmanaged apps, you can apply additional battery optimization settings to your unmanaged apps. To do this:
-
Enable Apply power saving policy targeting unmanaged apps.
-
Select App power saving if you want to automatically put unmanaged apps to sleep when a workshift starts.
Apps that are already in sleep or deep sleep mode at shift start, or apps categorized as Never auto sleeping apps in the device’s Settings > Device care menu are exempt.
-
Select Auto dim if you want to dim the screens of unmanaged apps faster than the standard screen timeout period when a workshift starts.
This feature does not work if the device’s screen timeout period is less than 5 minutes. As a result, this option should not be used if you enabled the Optimize device settings option for the entire fleet.
