View the activity log
Last updated September 25th, 2024
To see the common activity log, click Activity log in the Knox Admin Portal navigation pane. This page consolidates all activity log events across Knox services.
If you’re the super admin for your organization, you can see events from all services. If you’re a sub-admin, you’re only able to see events from Knox services you’ve been granted the View activity log permission for.
Knox Manage and Knox Guard events aren’t currently included in the common activity log.
The list shows information about both service-specific and common activity logs, including:
- DATE — The date and time the event occurred.
- INITIATOR — The admin who initiated the event. If Knox MSP initiated it, the MSP admin’s email or MSP company name is shown.
- SERVICE — The service that generated the log for the event.
- CATEGORY — The category the event belongs to. The common categories are Admin, Device, License, and Reseller, but you may see others depending on your services.
- EVENT — A brief summary of the event that occurred.
- DESCRIPTION — If necessary, a description that adds more context to the category and event.
- DETAILS — Additional information, such as links to license or device details.
By default, the list of events is sorted from newest to oldest.
Filter or search for events
To see fewer or more activity log events, set the time filter dropdown to the last 7, 30, or 365 days. If you want to narrow down your search further, click next to a column to filter by initiators, services, categories, and events.
You can also search for specific events by the category, type of event, or the initiator. For privacy reasons, if you’re searching by initiator, you need to enter the admin’s full email address to see the results.
Export activity log information
Although the activity log on the portal displays up to a year of past events, the system retains five years of event history. When you click Download as CSV, all activity log events within the last five years are included in the exported CSV file. Note that search results and applied filters don’t affect the exported file.
If your CSV file contains more than 5,000 devices, you’ll receive it through email. Otherwise, the file is downloaded immediately.
