Best practices
Last updated January 28th, 2026
The overall approach that you can use to switch the sign-in method for your Knox company account will depend on how your current Knox accounts are set up.
Regardless of how your company’s Knox accounts are set up, this article attempts to introduce Knox super admins to some best practices for common switching scenarios, including some FAQs to help you troubleshoot, if required.
Generally speaking, your company may have one of the following Knox account configurations:
- A single Knox account for the entire company
- Multiple Knox accounts across the entire company
See the following sections for recommended best practices related to planning your switching workflow for each Knox account configuration.
Single Knox company account
In case of a single Knox account, you probably manage sub-admins in the Knox Admin Portal. As the super admin you can initiate the process to switch the sign-in method for yourself and all sub-admins. This process requires the sub-admins to activate their new account IDs, which they can then use to access the Knox Admin Portal.
The overall process to switch the sign-in method will be as follows:
-
You sign in to the Knox Admin Portal with your existing personal Samsung account, and start the process from the banner displayed on screen.
-
If your company doesn’t have a Samsung account for Business, click Sign up, and create a Samsung account for Business for the company and register the company. Then create your account ID and activate it.
-
If your company has a Samsung account for Business, click Sign in and enter your Samsung account for Business account ID and password.
-
-
You’re guided to create or assign account IDs to sub-admins, including the domain you want to use, and then launch the process.
-
Once you switch the sign-in method, it can’t be reverted. You’re asked to confirm the change, following which the sign-in method is updated for all users, including yourself.
-
Sub-admins receive an email to activate their account ID.
For details about each step in the guided process, see Switch to Samsung account for Business.
During the account ID activation process, your sub-admins will be guided to change their personal Samsung account email address, if it’s the same as their Samsung account for Business account ID.
If they make the change before the switch process is completed, they will not be able to sign in to the Knox Admin Portal.
Multiple Knox company accounts
If your company operates multiple Knox accounts, each account will have a Knox super admin who manages sub-admins for that account. In this case, each super admin will need to initiate the sign-in switch process for their Knox account.
In case a D-U-N-S, VAT, or Business Registration number is already in use in Samsung account for Business, you may need to contact the existing company admin to have your account created.
