Overview
Samsung prioritizes robust data privacy standards and continuously strengthens protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), ensuring sensitive data remains protected even in the event of unauthorized access attempts. This commitment is reinforced through a phased encryption approach:
- Phase 1: With the Knox cloud services 23.12 release, we added encryption for user-specific Personally Identifiable Information (PII), including name, email address, and phone number information. For more information, see Security notice regarding storage and search behavior for PII.
- Phase 2: In the Knox cloud services 26.03 release, we are implementing additional encryption for device identifiers (IMEI, Serial Number (SN), MAC Address) and Knox Asset Intelligence’s Location data. These improvements will take effect March 18, 2026 for most services, with updates to Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support scheduled for June 2026.
