Black status bar in Multi-App Kiosk mode

  • Multi-App Kiosk mode
  • Android P and above

Overview

On a device running KM's Multi-App Kiosk mode, some users are reporting that they are unable to access the status bar when the profile assigned to the device has the System Bar policy set to Allow.

Cause

From KM version 19.12, there are additional Kiosk mode settings found in Android Enterprise > Kiosk > Utilities to support Android P OS and above. The following settings are automatically configured to Disallow by default:

  1. Recent task
  2. System bar
  3. Notification bar
  4. Home

Resolution

To enable the recent task, system bar, notification bar, and home settings, you must change the default values in Android Enterprise > Kiosk > Utilities settings to Allow
