Mobile hotspot toggle
Last updated June 28th, 2024
You can use the Mobile Hotspot toggle in Knox Service Plugin to enable device users to set up a hotspot. You can also configure this setting to be disabled on the device so that device users can’t modify it, or hidden on the device so that device users can’t see it.
The Mobile Hotspot toggle setting is part of the Deep settings customization feature that’s available with a free Knox Platform for Enterprise Premium license on devices running Knox version 3.4 and higher.
To configure the Mobile Hotspot setting:
- Go to Device and Settings customization profile > Configure values in settings menu, and add a setting menu configuration.
- For Name of the Setting item, select Connections > Mobile Hotspot and Tethering > Mobile Hotspot.
- Configure Set value for the setting to turn the Mobile Hotspot on or off.
- (Optional) If you don’t want device users to change this setting, set Allow end-user modification of this setting to False.
- (Optional) If you want this setting to be hidden from device users, set Configure to hide settings to True.
- To see how to set specific hotspot settings, such as the hotspot SSID and password, see Wi-Fi policy.
- On Android 14 and higher, the mobile hotspot can be turned on by the user even if there’s no SIM card in the device. You can use the Mobile Hotspot policy to prevent users from turning on the mobile hotspot.
