Settings App crashes in Android 11 if Samsung Account package is disabled

Environment

  • Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE)
  • Android Enterprise (AE)
  • Samsung Galaxy devices with Android 11 OS prior to the February 2021 security patch

Overview

If the Samsung Account package (com.osp.app.signin) is disabled via UEM, the device user is not able to access the device settings menu. Users may encounter a "Settings keeps stopping" message when launching the device settings menu.

Resolution

The issue has been resolved, and the fix is included in the February 2021 security patch for Android 11 devices.
