Cannot send or receive emails on managed device when Data Saver is on


Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE)


On a device with a work profile, emails cannot be sent or received when the Data Saver feature is enabled on the personal side.


There is a bug preventing the Email app from connecting to a proxy server through the VPN when Data Saver is enabled.  


The Knox team has identified a fix, scheduled for an upcoming firmware update.


If you are encountering this error without a VPN, enable data for the Email app in the work profile by following the steps below:

  1. On your device, navigate to Settings > Workspace > Apps > Email > Mobile data.
  2. Enable Allow app while Data saver on.

You can then send and receive emails without fully disabling Data Saver.
