KME (KCS 21.11) release notes — November 17, 2021
Starting with this release, Knox product versioning will be named based on dates, specifically the year followed by the month. For example, this November 17, 2021 release—what would have been Knox cloud service 1.41—uses 21.11 as the version name.
End of support for Internet Explorer 11
Microsoft announced that they will end support for Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) on June 15, 2022. In preparation for this, as of 21.11 (November 18, 2021), solutions on the Knox cloud service are no longer supported on Internet Explorer. The Knox cloud service is best accessed on Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox.
Allow option to skip start of managed provisioning enrollment flow
Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) now offers the option to skip the first step of Android Enterprise's managed provisioning enrollment flow. This allows you to skip the message that the device belongs to your organization for devices that are on Android 12 and above. The default value is checked, and you can unselect the checkbox if you prefer to follow all steps of the enrollment flow.
Add new MDMs in Android Enterprise profile drop-down selection
To create a KME profile, you would open the dashboard and click Create Profile. From there, you would select the Android Enterprise profile type and fill out the basic information page, which includes a drop down to pick your MDM. If you wanted one that wasn't listed on the drop-down menu, you would have to select Other and paste in your agent APK. This latest release adds two new partners in the drop-down—Headwind and Urmobo. Remove Force DO/Let MDM choose option for profiles
Prior to this release, there was a Force DO/Let MDM choose option on the Android Enterprise profile setup page. This option will be removed and all profiles will now work as Let MDM choose (DO or WP-C) as the default and mandatory choice. This change streamlines the process, and will cover all customer use cases. Note that all existing profiles will be automatically changed to this option.
Set Disable System app as default value for Profile settings menu
Instead of presenting options to set either Leave all system apps enabled or Disable System Applications on the Android Enterprise profile settings screen, the default value is now set to the latter. This allows the settings screen to have the same policy on the console as the API, which is more convenient, as usage stats show that most customers choose the disable option.
