Overview
Starting with Knox 3.4.1, the Knox GPS Force API is deprecated. This knowledge base article explains how to force enable GPS on Knox 3.4.1+ and non-Samsung Knox devices using Knox Manage, preventing device users from disabling it.
How do I prevent a user from disabling GPS on a non-Samsung Knox or Knox 3.4.1+ device with Knox Manage?
To force enable GPS and prevent the device user from disabling it:
- On the Knox Manage console, go to Profile.
- Create a new Android Enterprise profile or select an existing one to modify.
- On the Set Policy page, go to the Android Enterprise policy drawer and click System.
- Set Location Settings (Legacy) to Disallow.
- Click Save & Assign.
You must configure and assign this policy to the device’s group or organization before it’s enrolled in Knox Manage.
As the device’s GPS configuration is set to On by default, enrolling it in Knox Manage applies the Location Setting policy, which prevents device users from disabling GPS.
