Cannot clear emergency alert on devices enrolled in Knox Manage

Some devices enrolled in Knox Manage are experiencing an issue where an emergency alert item cannot be cleared in the notification bar. The alert can be temporarily dismissed by swiping, but reappears in the notifications.


By Emergency Alerts (WPAS Alert) design, access to the default messaging app must be granted to display the alert description. 

If the device is in Kiosk Mode and the Messaging app is not enabled, the device only displays the banner without the option to display the alert details. 


We recommend that you add to the allowlist the Samsung Messaging app in Kiosk Mode. For steps on how to add an app in Kiosk mode, see  Create a kiosk using the Kiosk Wizard.

If you must block SMS functionality on the device, you can configure the related policy in KM. Please note that KM policies do not affect the Emergency Alert system, and alert notifications will still be pushed to devices even if SMS is blocked.
