How to apply device customization controls using Knox Service Plugin for Knox Manage
Environment
- Knox Manage (KM)
- Knox Service Plugin (KSP)
Overview
Using the Knox Service Plugin on Knox Manage, new policies are now available to customize the user interface of your devices. This article provides an overview of each policy, and steps on how to access them in your Knox Manage console.
Before you begin, ensure you enable Knox Service Plugin in your Knox Manage console.
Configuring device customization policies
- Create an Android Enterprise profile.
- On the Set Policy screen, next to Samsung Knox (Android Enterprise), click the dropdown arrow.
- Select System. Next to Device Customization Controls, select Apply.
More options for device customization are shown. These policies include:
Predictive Text
Enable or disable predictive text, which suggests words the device user may want to use in a text field. The predictions are based on the context of other words in the message and the first few letters typed. Note that if you configure this policy, the user can still change the setting on the device.
Items on Quick Panel
Here, you can choose which quick panel shortcuts appear on the device's Quick Settings panel. Any shortcuts not listed are enabled by default.
Allow User to Edit Quick Panel
Disabling this policy prevents users from changing the Quick Settings panel configuration.
App Suggestions
Enable or disable suggested applications in the task manager and elsewhere on the device.
Enable Battery Protection Setting
Set the maximum charge level to 85% to enhance battery health. Note that this policy applies only to tablets, and does not take effect until the tablet is rebooted.
Lock Screen Shortcuts
Allows customization of application shortcuts on the device's lock screen. Note that you can only add one shortcut on each side of the lock screen.
Customize the Device Settings Menu
Allows customization of the device settings menu. You can choose whether to hide notification content, battery percentages, and icons. Support for individual settings varies based on the device model and OS.
Assign the policies to a group or organization
After you finish configuring your policies, click Save & Assign > OK. For detailed steps on how to assign your profile and policies to a group or organization, see below:
