Manage devices
Knox Configure requires resellers to submit device information on behalf of their customers before profiles can be pushed to enrolled devices.
Through the reseller portal, resellers are able to review devices uploaded to a customer, upload a device and delete devices.
Upload a device
For the CSV file template, ensure the following when inputting to a new CSV file:
- Enter one device IMEI per line. Avoid commas to ensure device information is uploaded correctly into the portal.
- To prevent numeric device IDs from being converted into scientific notation format: Open the Format Cells screen from the Microsoft Excel Home screen Number drop-down menu. Select Number from the Category menu, and set the Decimal places value to 0. Select OK to save the updated setting.
To upload a device:
- Log in to the Knox Reseller Portal.
- Select Customers from the left-hand navigation.
- Under Company name / Internal reference, select the target customer link.
- Select the UPLOADS tab.
- Click UPLOAD DEVICES.
- Enter the following information:
- Device CSV file — Click BROWSE to select a CSV file containing the IMEIs, order date, and order number of purchased devices pending upload.
Profile alias — (Optional) Select the profile alias created by the customer. Ensure the correct profile is associated with the device upload by coordinating with the customer.
A profile alias enables customers to set multiple auto-assignment rules for each reseller, rather than a single auto-assignment rule.
Before setting an auto-assignment rule:
- The customer must create a profile alias, which is shared with the reseller, and can be used by the reseller when uploading devices.
- When an alias is created, it must be associated with an existing profile.
- The reseller attaches the profile alias to an upload, which the customer uses for a profile auto-assignment rule.
Profile aliases are unique per reseller, but are not unique across resellers since they're not shared across resellers.
The customer can create up to 10 profile aliases per reseller, and each profile alias can only be associated with a single profile.
NOTE — This feature requires the reseller to coordinate with the customer to determine which profile alias to use to ensure the correct profile is used for each upload.- The customer must create a profile alias, which is shared with the reseller, and can be used by the reseller when uploading devices.
- Order number — (Optional) Provide the order number for the listed customer's devices.
- Order date — Click on the calendar icon to select the date when the customer placed the order.
- Tags — (Optional) Tags allow you to search for devices easily once they have been uploaded into Knox Configure.
- Click Upload to commit the device upload data into the Reseller Portal for the selected customer.
