Knox Configure editions
There are two editions of Knox Configure: Setup and Dynamic. For a detailed comparison of the two editions, see the Feature comparison table below.
Setup edition
Setup edition is designed for one-time deployments of apps and settings to enrolled devices that won’t require incremental updates in future.
To change a device’s configuration after a Setup edition profile has been assigned to it, the device needs to be factory reset and configured again.
Setup edition includes a limited subset of the policies and settings available in Dynamic edition, and you can only create Normal mode profiles while using the Setup edition.
Dynamic edition
Dynamic edition allows you to update enrolled devices over the air as many times as needed without a factory reset.
Dynamic profiles have access to the full feature set of Knox Configure, including ProKiosk mode, Enterprise Billing, Knox Shared Devices, and more.
Profile types
There are two profile types available in Knox Configure: Normal and ProKiosk.
Normal mode
Normal mode allows the device to run normally as a phone or tablet but with the specific settings applied by Knox Configure.
Setup edition profiles are limited to Normal mode.
ProKiosk mode
ProKiosk mode restricts the device’s functionality to a specific set of targeted applications specified in the profile. ProKiosk mode is Samsung’s advanced solution for transforming Samsung devices into purpose-built appliances. When you configure a device in ProKiosk mode, you can restrict device operations to a single specific application or group of applications, and device users can’t access the Settings menu.
ProKiosk mode can be enabled and disabled with a passcode.
