Before you begin
This section describes how to get started with Knox E-FOTA.
NOTE—If you are already using Knox E-FOTA Advanced to manage your firmware's devices, and you want to start using Knox E-FOTA, follow the tutorial Migrate devices from Knox E-FOTA Advanced to Knox E-FOTA.
Requirements
- Create a Samsung account—In order to use Knox E-FOTA and other Samsung Knox solutions, you need access to SamsungKnox.com, which requires a Samsung account. If you don't have a Samsung account, you are prompted to create one.
- Apply for access to Knox E-FOTA—Once you have access to SamsungKnox.com, you can apply for access to Knox E-FOTA.
- Obtain test devices—You'll need test devices to test Knox E-FOTA. NOTE—Knox E-FOTA works with Knox-supported devices with Android N and later. Out-of-box experience (OOBE) installation works with devices with Android P and later.
- You can log into E-FOTA using either a Samsung account or a corporate account set up through MS Azure Active Directory. See signing in using AD SSO.
NOTE—For US customers using Verizon or AT&T devices with the carrier logo, please check with your carrier and a Samsung sales representative before evaluating and purchasing Knox E-FOTA.
SamsungKnox.com
You can manage Knox licenses through your SamsungKnox.com account. Your account provides access to various Knox solutions and tools through the SamsungKnox.com dashboard. Your SamsungKnox.com account also allows you to create support tickets if you are having issues with a product.
A SamsungKnox.com account is free and you can create one in just a few minutes.
Create a Samsung account
This section describes how to create a Samsung account.
- Go to www.samsungknox.com.
- Click Enroll on the upper right-hand side of the screen.
- Enter your business email address.NOTE—Personal email accounts, such as Gmail and Hotmail accounts, are not accepted.
If your email address is already associated with a Samsung account, you're prompted to sign in to your Samsung account. Otherwise, you're prompted to create one.
- Create a Samsung account.
NOTE—Follow these steps if you are prompted to create a Samsung account. If you already have a Samsung account, sign in and skip these steps.
- Click Agree.
- Complete the required fields, then click Next.
NOTE—The fields in this screen may differ slightly depending on the country where you're accessing SamsungKnox.com.
A message shows confirming that a verification email has been sent to the email address you entered.
- In your email inbox, open the confirmation email for the Samsung account and click the verification link.
- Click Start.
- Enter your company information and click Submit.
- Click Agree.
- Read and acknowledge the Samsung Knox agreements, and click Submit.
Your SamsungKnox.com dashboard appears.
Once your Knox account is created, a request for access to Knox E-FOTA and all other Knox cloud services is automatically submitted.
After your request is approved, a notification is sent to your work email and you can log into the Knox Admin Portal.
Log in to the Knox Admin Portal
- Go to SamsungKnox.com and click Sign in with Samsung account.

Enter your Samsung account email and password.
Your SamsungKnox.com dashboard appears.
- On the Knox E-FOTA card, click Launch.
The Knox E-FOTA console opens.

This section describes how you can get started with Knox E-FOTA.

Knox Admin Portal
The Knox Admin Portal allows you to manage your Samsung Knox licenses, access various Knox cloud services, and create support tickets in case you encounter issues with a product.
