Manage domains
This tutorial describes how to manage domains with Knox E-FOTA Advanced.
The Admin tab contains tools to manage Domains, Users, Domain Settings, and General Settings with Knox E-FOTA Advanced. This section of the guide focuses on Domains.
Domains
The Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal supports the creation of hierarchical domains. There are 2 types of domains: a root domain and a subdomain.
Subdomains are created under each root domain:
View domain list
To view the domain list on the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal, go to Admin > Domain. A filter can be applied to the domain list:
- Name—Filter by domain name.
- Parent Name—Filter by the parent domain's name. For subdomains, enter the root domain associated with the subdomain. For root domains, the parent name will be "none".
- Type—Filter by the domain type.
- Status—The domain status can be Active or Inactive.
- Region—Domain region used for filtering when creating update campaigns.
Add a subdomain
- Log in to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Go to Admin > Domains
- Click New Domain.
- Under Domain Details, complete the mandatory fields on the form:
- Name—Enter a unique name to help you identify the new root domain.
- Type—Select a domain type.
- Region—Enter a domain region.
TOOL TIP—The Region field is useful for filtering when creating update campaigns.
- Click Save & Close.
Manage domains
Edit a domain
- Log in to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Go to Admin > Domains
- Click Edit.
- Edit the domain information.
- Click Save & Close.
Note that in order to edit a subdomain, the domain's status must be Active.
Disable a domain
- Log in to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Go to Admin > Domains
- Click Disable.
- Click OK to confirm.
Enable a domain
- Log in to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Go to Admin > Domains
- Click Enable on a disabled subdomain.
- Click OK to confirm.
Delete a domain
Deleting a domain deletes all its subdomains. Note that this operation is irreversible. When a domain is deleted, Knox E-FOTA generates the billing report for the domain and its subdomains. A report is sent by email after the deletion process is complete.
- Log in to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Go to Admin > Domains
- Under the domain list, click Disable to enable the Delete option.
- Click Delete.
