How to register devices to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced server
How to register devices to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced server
Before IT admins can use the Knox E-FOTA Advanced service, IT admins are required to ensure business devices are connected to the Knox E-FOTA server.
IT admins must either:
- Register device information to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced server and install the client app on devices
- Configure the client APK first then install on devices
Option 1: Register device information to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced server and install the client app on devices
- Register devices to the Knox E-FOTA server by clicking "˜Device Management' > "˜Devices' from the Knox E-FOTA Advanced admin console.
- To manage devices in bulk, click "˜Device Import File' to add, edit, or delete multiple devices simultaneously (refer to the E-FOTA Device Import File Template and follow the Knox E-FOTA Advanced Trial Guide for details).
- After the registration, the client app should be installed on each device. Launch the app for the first time to take effect. We suggest using your MDM's app management feature or Knox Configure Dynamic Edition.
Option 2: Configure the client APK first then install on devices
IT admins can use app configuration file to direct devices to the Knox E-FOTA server, without having to register devices to the server in advance.
- From your PC, download configuration.json and cryptool.jar.
- IT admins can open the configuration file and enter the "domainName" and "domainPin" with unique value as given under "˜Admin' > "˜Domains' menu of the Knox E-FOTA Advanced admin console. After saving the configuration, encrypt the file using the cryptool file (follow the Knox E-FOTA Advanced Trial Guide for details).
- After encrypting the configuration file, save the file on your device directory /sdcard/.swm (you may need to enable the option to show hidden files).
- After the client app is installed on each device, launch the app for the first time to take effect.
- Once a device is connected to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced server, "˜Last Reported' value will appear in the Knox E-FOTA Advanced admin console, under "˜Device Management' > "˜Devices'.
