Register a device
Once you have an active Knox E-FOTA Advanced license, you can now register a device to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced service.
This section describes how to register a device to try Knox E-FOTA Advanced. Note that you'll obtain your login credentials from the Knox E-FOTA Advanced trial approval email, or if you've purchased a commercial Knox E-FOTA Advanced license, your local reseller.
Introduction
Knox E-FOTA Advanced is designed for enterprises that require the convenience of an administration portal.
To begin your trial, enter your login credentials on the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal by following the steps below:
- Launch the Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal.
- Fill the fields to log in:
- Username—Enter your user name, typically this is your enterprise email.
- Password—Enter the password you received from the Knox E-FOTA Advanced trial approval email.
- Domain—Enter the domain included in the Knox E-FOTA Advanced trial approval email.
- If this is your first time logging in, you'll be prompted to change your password.
NOTE—Ensure that the password is at least 12 characters.
Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal
Once you've successfully entered your login credentials, you see the following console:
Tab descriptions are as follows. Click for information on additional menu options:

- Total Devices—A summary of the number of devices currently registered with the Knox E-FOTA Advanced license.
- Running Operations—A summary of operations currently running.
- Completed Operations—A summary of completed operations.

- Campaigns—Create and manage campaigns for testing or production.
- Policies—Create new policies and manage existing policies.
- Operations—Create and manage operations for testing or production.

- Firmware—Check the most recent firmware available and view details from the list.
- Software—Check the most recent software update for the Knox E-FOTA Advanced Client APK.

- Devices—Register new devices, search registered devices, and review the operations history of each device.
- Client Configuration—Manage the client configuration for user interaction interval, pulling interval, and download resume.
- Labels—Manage device label details.
- Device Models—View the range of device models currently enrolled under the Knox E-FOTA Advanced license.

- Billing Report—View the activity report associated with the domain for billing.
- Audit Log—Specify a date range to generate an audit log report of activities, registered devices, and errors.

- Domains—Manage domains and subdomains.
- Users—Manage users registered to the Knox E-FOTA Advanced service.
- Domain Settings—Manage domain settings.
- General Settings—View license and support information.
Register a device
You must first register a device into the Knox E-FOTA Advanced service before you can manage it. When you first begin your trial, you can begin by registering a test device.
Log into Knox E-FOTA Advanced portal and follow the steps below:
Register a single device
- Go to: Device Management > Devices.
- Click New Registration.
- Complete the required fields:
- Device ID—Enter one of the following device ID types: IMEI, serial number, or MAC address.
- Friendly Name (Optional)—Enter an alias for the device.
- Domain Name—Select a domain name to assign the device to.
- Labels (Optional)—Select one or more labels to associate with the device.
- Device Label (Optional)—Contains a list of labels currently associated with the device.
- Click Save & Close.
Mass-register a list of devices
With Knox E-FOTA Advanced, you can efficiently register a list of devices by uploading a CSV file.
Follow the steps below to register a list of devices by bulk:
- Go to: Device Management > Devices.
- Click Download Template.
- Open Microsoft Excel and edit the template:
- For the first column, enter an action: ADD, EDIT, MOVE, or DELETE.
- For the second column, enter a valid device ID: The IMEI, serial number, or MAC address.
- (Optional) For the third column, enter characters for the device Label.
- (Optional) For the fourth column, enter characters for the Friendly Name.
- Once the template contains a list of devices for registration, ensure that the file is saved as a .csv file.
- Click Choose File, and select the .csv file to import.
- Select the target domain to associate the device to.
- Click Import.
Verify device registration
To check the registration status of a device:
- Go to: Device Management > Devices.
- Under Device Search: Complete the fields to apply a filter on the list of registered devices, then click Apply.
- Review the list of devices.
